¿Quién es el capitán?
Many years ago, el capitán was born in Rochester, MI. His great-grandfather was the milkman of that small town back in the 1930's (with a horse and carriage).
El capitán moved to Troy and attended Troy Athens High School. He excelled in math and Spanish during that time. He also played third base for the varsity baseball team (and pitched when the team was ahead by many runs).
After high school, Eastern Michigan was the place to be and Marketing seemed to be fun. He graduated (finally) and worked in sales for the Detroit Vipers Hockey Team. He did well but the job was a little too boring for his taste. The time had come for a career change and education was calling. Back to EMU he went for a degree in Education and Spanish.
EMU
Before teaching MKT / SPN, he wanted to practice his Español in a Spanish-speaking country. A year in Mexico would do the trick. In 2001, He taught English in San Luis Potosí for a year and loved it. There were a lot of new friends from all over the world to meet. After that experience in Mexico, he decided to return to the state that had colorful seasons. He got lucky and nailed a job one day before school started in 2002 at GPNHS. After a few years of traveling to both high schools, an opening in 2006-7 allowed him to stay at GPSHS all day.
During his tenure at the Grosse Pointe schools, he has been able to chaperone trips to Spain and Costa Rica. Spain trips in '04, '05, '06 and Costa Rica in '07, 08, '11, '16. In the summer of 2008, el capitán got married to a pretty Spanish teacher. Although, their cat Magglio is in charge of the house. In July of 2011, Javier Peltier was born, now HE is in charge.
